$236 allocated for infrastructure development across municipalities of Punjab

Burewala: The Punjab government has marked a total of $236 million for development in 16 municipal committees of the province. Funded under the ‘Punjab Cities Programme’ by the World Bank (WB) this includes development in the areas of sewerage, solid waste, urban roads, open public spaces and streetlights.

The municipal committees include Vehari, Burewala, Jhelum, Daska, Wazirabad, Kamoke, Muridke, Hafizabad, Gojra, Jaranwala, Jhang, Kot Addu, Okara, Kamalia, Bahawalnagar and Khanewal. These will be provided $180 million performance based grants.

According to the Vehari Deputy Commissioner Irfan Ali, work on the optimal utilisation of the grant had already started. Its use in a proper and efficient manner will be ensured.
