Approval of Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway enters final phase

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Tuesday approved two development projects worth Rs3.3bn and also recommended the construction of the Peshawar-DI Khan motorway to ECNEC.

The working party also sent three projects worth Rs402.3bn for consideration to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).

According to the details, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission, Jehanzeb Khan in which various projects related to housing, transport, communication, and education came under discussion.

The projects which have been sent for approval to ECNEC include the construction of Dir Motorway at the cost of Rs38.99bn and the construction of Peshawar-DI Khan Motorway worth Rs276.5bn.

As per the media reports, the desalination plant in Gwadar will be developed by utilising the funds of Rs2.1bn which will supply clean drinking water to the local population.
