Cement prices records a surge of Rs30

ISLAMABAD: The price of cement surges yet again as manufacturers increase the price by Rs30 since last month, narrowing the price gap between the northern and southern regions.

According to reports, the price hike has been attributed to the increasing constructional activities nationwide and an increase in demand and global coal prices. The cost is expected to further surge by Rs20-30, covering the cost of fuel.

The construction activities include constructing various hydropower projects, housing schemes, including those under the Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NPHP) and various commercial projects.

A 50kg cement bag costs about 66 per cent of the cost of coal imported from South Africa.
