Displaced families of Karachi Circular Railway project plead for shelter

Karachi: In regards to dismantling houses for clearing the route for Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), people have come out in protest for alternative abodes.

Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani said that respective arrangements for rehabilitating dismantled people on emergency basis is already being made by the Sindh Government.

Taking out a rally from Regal Chowk to Karachi Press Club, it was joined by several civil society members, rights activists Nasir Mansoor, Asad Butt, Arif Hasan, Karamat Ali, Zehra Khan, Safina Gul, Khizar Qazi, Farhat Parveen and Faisal Edhi, KCR Action Committee Chairman Haji Khan Badshah and more.

The Speakers have demanded to bring further demolition to halt until resettlement is arranged. Compensation for affectees has also been demanded. A demand to revive National Commission on Human Rights’ Sindh office, has also been put.
