Government should plan low-cost houses for a decent settlement of katchi abadis

Karachi: A two-day workshop for peace committees was organized by Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) on Sunday. Author and historian Gul Hassan Kalmati expressed views on the growing informal settlements compromising city peace.

He suggested the government should plan a low-cost housing scheme for working class and provide residential plots to poor at reduced prices.

He pressed on the need for policy making to ensure regular housing settlements for people living in katchi abadis. Basic life amenities should be made a priority.
