Pakistani exports witness increase to EU and other markets

ISLAMABAD: A significant increase in Pakistan’s exports to the European Union and other trade markets in the month of July was reported by Special Adviser to PM Imran Khan on Commerce and Investment, Mr.  Abdul Razak Dawood.

He further informed via a tweet that, compared to July 2020, Pakistan’s exports surpassed China, Bangladesh, Italy, The Netherlands, the U.K., Spain, and the United States.

He further specified that the export of home textiles, garments, ethyl alcohol, maise, fruits and vegetables, stockings, socks, and plastic increased in July 2021 compared to last year.

Last year, the EU extended the GSP status of Pakistan till 2022 in line with its implementation of 27 ILO conventions. Thanks to this scheme, the EU grants certain tax concessions to Pakistan’s export. There are 6 EU countries whose 80% imports comprise Pakistani products alone, as per the reports of the Pakistan Business Council.
