Rs8bn released by Govt for Karachi’s development

KARACHI: The government has approved the release of Rs8 billion to aid the completion of ongoing development projects in Karachi, as reported by the media on Tuesday.

The released funds for Karachi would be utilised by the Sindh Infrastructure Development Company (SIDC) to aid ongoing infrastructure projects.

As per the released details, the fund would provide finances for the reconstruction of Nishtar Road, Manghopir Road and a signal-free corridor from Matric Board office to Sakhi Hassan.

Rs2 billion has been allocated for the construction of Green Line Project till Numaish Chowrangi. Rs500 million would be spent for the construction of the Institute of Technical and Management Science in Hyderabad.

The government has previously in March announced a Rs162 billion special package for Karachi. Apprising the public of the details, the prime minister had said that the package entails ten projects related to transportation and seven projects related to the sewerage system.
