Sukkur-Multan Motorway to be operational after Eid-ul-Azha

BAHAWALPUR: To reduce the travel distance between Sukkur and Multan, construction work on the 400-kilometre section of the Sukkur-Multan Motorway has been completed and handed over to National Highways Authority (NHA). The formal opening of this section is expected within this month after Eidul Azha.

The section of Sukkur-Multan Motorway was part of the Karachi-Lahore Motorway, with a total length of 1,156 km being constructed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Developments done to accommodate the traffic include six lanes with seven sections. The construction of seven big and eleven small bridges on the seventh Shujabad-Multan section, along with fourteen underpasses has been completed. Twenty-four passages for cattle and thirteen to cater to the general public and local farmers have been provided along this section.
